Congratulations to this year’s winner of the “DAAD Prize 2021 for Outstanding Achievements of International Students and Doctoral Candidates”, Farah Hasan! The prize also recognises Ms. Hasan’s inspiring social work and drive to help others. Among other things, she joined our student mentoring programme “studis4studis” helping

other new students get accustomed to and comfortable at their new university. And she is part of Nightline Berlin e.V., a student-run anonymous crisis helpline, where she has been offering valuable service, helping students with compassion and care.

Ms. Hasan’s student experiences reflect Humboldt-Universität’s global connections and mission. Her two semesters abroad in India and South Africa shaped her academic progression and international outlook. Her engagement with the international community continued in two international field research projects undertaken in Vietnam and Kenya.

Ms. Hasan has made the most of the opportunities available at Humboldt and was able to find her own path and specialisation.
